Africa safari lodge finder

Game Lodges Africa

Search lodges by reserve, country, budget tier, safari style and closest useful airport. The lodge is only half the decision; access, transfers, season and reserve rules shape the trip.

Lodge directory

Representative game lodges and safari camps.

Use the cards to shortlist areas, then confirm dates, conservation fees, transfer method and baggage limits with the lodge or operator.

Where to start

Choose the ecosystem before the room.

A beautiful lodge in the wrong area will not fix the route. These regions are useful anchors for first planning.

Elephants and buffalo gathered at a waterhole Big Five classics

Kruger, Sabi Sand, Madikwe, Mara, Serengeti

Best when lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo are the core reason for travelling.

River boats beside a safari lodge Water and river camps

Okavango, Chobe, Zambezi, South Luangwa

Strong for river safaris, seasonal wildlife concentration, boating, walking and mixed camp styles.

Safari lodge waterfall and pool setting Specialist trips

Bwindi, Volcanoes, Etosha, NamibRand, Mahale

Choose these for gorillas, desert wildlife, chimps, scenery or a more specialist safari rhythm.

Airport reality

Closest lodge airport is not always the easiest flight.

Large agents often work best for Johannesburg, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, Maun, Kasane, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Kigali or Entebbe. Smaller safari airstrips usually need lodge confirmation.

Lodge style

Match the lodge to the trip, not just the price.

Luxury can mean privacy, guiding quality, flexible drives, fly-in access or simply a softer bed. The best choice depends on who is travelling and what they most want to see.

Private reserve

Flexible drives and specialist guiding

Often stronger for leopard, night drives and quieter sightings where rules allow.

Public park

Value, scale and self-drive options

Useful for Kruger, Etosha, Addo and other parks where cost and independence matter.

Fly-in camp

Remote access with lighter luggage

Common in the Okavango, Serengeti, Zambia, Namibia and remote concessions.

Family

Malaria, age rules and drive length

Madikwe, Pilanesberg, some South Africa reserves and selected private lodges can be easier with children.
